Plan: wire and test indoors first, then install outdoors and seal up. Fixing wiring at a bench beats fixing it on a ladder in the rain.
Before you start, you’ll need
- Your PropX-Outdoor and a 9–24 V DC supply (up to 5 A), kept out of the weather (outdoor power guidance — #81)
- Props, weather-rated sensors and speaker, outdoor-suitable cable
- A small flat screwdriver; drill and screws for mounting
- A computer with Bluetooth and the PropX Control Center app
- Time: 45–90 minutes including the outdoor install
⚠️ Warning: Never wire with power connected. The seal only works with the lid closed and latched — never run it outdoors with the lid open "just for a minute".
Part 1 — Bench wiring (indoors)
Open the lid with dry hands and check the gasket (the rubber seal around the lid) is clean and undamaged. Route each cable through an entry and land it: props across output pairs (+ to +, − to −), sensors on Input A/B, sensor power from Trigger Power, speaker to the speaker connection (4–8 Ω). (Entry method and terminal layout — #77.)
Part 2 — Power up and test everything
Connect power: red → green → blue, then Status 1 solid blue. Then pair with the app: hold Record + Output 1 for 5 seconds until the status light flashes purple, then Scan and Add (PropX-Outdoor-…; no PIN). Test every output, trigger, and the speaker while it's all easy to reach. Status 2 flashing yellow/purple on an output = wiring fault — fix it now.
Part 3 — WiFi and cloud
WiFi setup now, so the controller is ready the moment cloud remote control launches — it's coming soon, and remote monitoring earns its keep on a controller mounted where you can't see it.
Part 4 — Load your sounds
MP3s (≤32 MB each) from the app or a MicroSD card (slot access — #78; card layout — #60).
Part 5 — Seal up
Re-check the gasket, close the lid, latch it, and check every cable entry is snug. This step is the weatherproofing.
Part 6 — Install outdoors
Mount through the enclosure holes
(117 × 133 mm — units #49), positioned so sprinklers, runoff, and fog machines don't hit a cable entry straight on. Point entries downward where possible.
Mounted outdoors, entries facing down IMG-OUT-FS-04 — photo coming soonKeep the power supply out of the weather
and run its cable to the controller (guidance — #81).
Re-test everything from the app
once installed.
Seasonal care
Open the enclosure only indoors or under cover; check the gasket every time; if you ever find moisture inside, dry it fully before closing up. (Care specifics — #84.)
